In 2014, Pastors Byron and Brae Dewalt became covenant partners with City of Refuge Christian Church in Marysville, Washington.

In 2015, both Pastor Byron and Pastor Brae attended Ministry Training School and were licensed as ministers by Dr. Wayne E. Anderson, founder of City of Refuge International.

In 2016, Pastors Byron and Brae Dewalt were commissioned and sent by Dr. Anderson to plant City of Refuge Christian Church Charleston, affectionately known as CORCC Charleston.

The church began with weekly Bible studies in a rented hotel meeting space. In 2021, Pastors Byron and Brae opened their home for weekly Sunday worship services. For a year, their living room became a sanctuary where church family was formed. In March of 2022 they moved to the YMCA Ponds.

In the summer of 2022, the Lord laid it upon our hearts to change the name. And through much prayer the name was changed to Faith City Church (FCC), a name that reflected both the identity and vision God had given for the future.

Over the next three years, FCC continued to grow and develop as leadership faithfully prayed over empty chairs, believing God would fill them. Many visitors came through the doors, and while the journey was not always easy, God continually challenged the pastors and church family to believe for more.

At the beginning of 2026, Pastor Byron boldly declared that FCC would be in its own building before the end of the year. It was a declaration of faith, trusting God for what seemed impossible.

Then, in May 2026, God answered! FCC received the keys to its first permanent church home. What had been prayed for, believed for, and declared in faith had become a reality. Just weeks later, on June 7, 2026, the congregation gathered for its first service in the new building on Sunday, June 7, 2026.

This milestone represented far more than a new location. It was a testimony to God’s faithfulness, provision, and the power of persistent faith. After years of meeting in hotels, homes, and community centers—setting up and breaking down week after week—God provided a place that FCC could call home. Now all glory to God, who is able, through His mighty power at work within us, to accomplish!
